Urban Project - Los Angeles 2008
A very significant part of our summer 2008 was when we were serving with Athletes in Action's mission trip for athletes who wanted to serve in the urban poor community of Los Angeles, CA. We led a group of 25 athletes from around the country in wrestling with issues of race, diversity, power struggle, and intense poverty. We would have teaching time and Bible studies every morning and evening. Each afternoon we would go to ministry sites
where we would apply what we were learning as we loved-on and encouraged children and these poor
areas of LA through after-school programs. Jayne and I had the privilege to pour into not only the lives of the college athletes that were a part of this summer project, but also the many people that the Bible refers to as "the least of these."
